Although rare, a positive pregnancy test does not necessarily indicate pregnancy. What can it mean?

How does a pregnancy test work?

Modern pregnancy tests for home use are accurate enough to detect pregnancy as early as the expected period. They work by detecting a hormone in the urine of a woman chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)which is produced by the fetus from the time of implantation in the wall of the uterus.

A false positive result

Although a false positive result after using a pregnancy test is very rare, it cannot be ruled out 100%. Especially if ...
